Our Bakkavor site in Highbridge, which is one of our four Desserts sites in the UK, specialises in Cheesecakes and Tarts, working closely with our sister site in Devizes that specialise in baked goods.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven and motivated Lead Engineer to join our Engineering team at Highbridge.
The lead engineer’s role is to ensure that all asset management procedures and all planned maintenance is carried out to specified standards and within timeframe allocated, including trending analysis.
Aligning all reliability functions as prioritised by the Maintenance Manager & CMMS Planner.
Participating and on occasions when required to lead RCA in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager & Engineers.
All other requested engineering work is carried out in a timely fashion and that the work completed is within polices that are laid out by Bakkavor. Other key responsibilities lie with the improvement of quality for all aspects of the products and engineering practices.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all engineering maintenance and repair work is carried out within statutory health, safety and environmental guidelines to ensure efficient performance of all plant and equipment.
- Actively delegate the shift team’s response to breakdowns and give good communication to provide effective and efficient service to production and other departments.
- Attend RCA meeting to identify and rectify issues with equipment to reduce future downtime.
- Evaluate the teams’ strengths & weaknesses to produce a training strategy.
- Co-ordinate & manage contractors, issuing work permits and auditing their work.
- Liaise with planning and production teams to agree maintenance windows for PPM work.
- Strive for continuous improvement by identifying areas / opportunities for operational improvement and communicate these appropriately to the site maintenance manager.
- Ensure operating and maintenance manuals, diagnostic instructions, equipment and all special tools are readily available to all engineering staff.
- Ensure the engineering workshop areas are always kept audit ready, company issued equipment is complete and in a good condition.
- Input all completed works to a high level of detail onto the CMMS.
- Demonstrate flexibility to provide holiday and sickness cover for other engineers when required.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Time served apprenticeship or equivalent
- Recognised Engineering qualification
- Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Flexible working attitude
- Competent electrical / fault finding & analysis skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- Methodical & strong attention to detail
- Strong trouble shooting & decision making skills
