Job overview

The Charity Engagement Officer will play a key role in developing and delivering a new charity engagement/marketing plan to increase charity support, income and impact.

In this role we want you to help tell the story of our charity; encouraging people to get involved and support our fundraising effort. We also want to build awareness of the charity with our own colleagues to increase the number of applications for funds; helping kind donations make a real difference to our frontline.

We are looking for someone who has experience in working in a charity engagement, fundraising or communications role who will develop and deliver a new charity engagement/marketing plan to improve awareness of the charity with different audiences, including staff, stakeholders, patients and the public, and to increase support, income and impact.

You will work as part of a small, friendly engagement team (with the Strategic Communications and Engagement Manager, and Engagement Officer) which gives you an opportunity to link charity engagement with the wider priorities of the Trust.

As part of the wider communications and engagement team, you will also contribute to the activity of the team which brings an opportunity to work on a range of interesting projects across the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a new charity engagement/marketing plan to improve awareness of the charity with different audiences, including staff, stakeholders, patients and the public, and to increase support, income and impact.
  • Enhance charity communications within the Trust to ensure all staff are aware of the charity to help increase involvement; as supporters and applicants for funds.
  • Work with internal departments and teams to identify fundraising needs/opportunities and drive engaging fundraising campaigns and activities to support them.
  • Work with the Trust’s volunteer coordinator to develop charity volunteer recruitment.
  • Coordinate charity events and activities to engage with potential supporters and donors, ensuring these are planned effectively in our annual event/engagement calendar.
  • Enhance use of fundraising platforms such as JustGiving and identify new potential platforms/opportunities to further promote the charity.

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working in a charity engagement and/or communications role.
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (Marketing, communications, PR etc)
  • Experience of delivering charity fundraising engagement strategies, plans and campaigns.
  • Experience in developing charity-related procedures and processes.
  • Experience in planning and delivering fundraising events (virtual and face-to-face).
  • Experience of writing for different audiences and channels.
  • Experience of writing for different audiences and channels.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in managing volunteers
  • Experience of meeting fundraising targets
  • Experience of using photo, film and audio equipment to create content

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 20 months
Part-time hours: 22.5 per week

Salary: £35,392.00-£42,618.00 per year
