Job description
We’re seeking someone with excellent communication skills and a keen interest in investigative work to join our Environmental Crime Unit as an Enforcement Officer.
You’ll join a small but busy team investigating fly tipping, littering, abandoned vehicles and other crimes, from report to prosecution.
This means a varied day to day role such as taking witness statements, securing evidence, interviewing suspects, assessing whether vehicles are abandoned and deciding if they should be removed, issuing fixed penalty notices, and preparing case files for court.
You’ll have a confident manner and be able to deal with potential conflicts, as well as work professionally with victims and other parties including partner agencies. You will be able to write accurate reports and make decisions based on evidence.
This is an interesting and varied role where you will work proactively and reactively to tackle environmental issues that impact on the quality of life of local residents.
Role Responsibilities- Provide the city councils response to abandoned vehicles, including visiting and assessing reports, serving notices and deciding which vehicles need to be removed.
- Investigate criminal offences of abandoning a vehicle and other environmental crimes, including issuing Fixed Penalty Notices and preparing prosecution case files as necessary.
- Carry out administration tasks in relation to abandoned vehicles.
