The Position


The Energy Storage Engineer/Senior Energy Storage Engineer is responsible for design, contract specification and system safety across all phases of energy storage projects, ensuring projects meet the performance, service and safety requirements defined by the client, in the contract, by law, and by RES exacting focus on safety.

The role provides expert technical advice relating on: -

  • Batteries;
  • Battery enclosure & auxiliary equipment;
  • PCS equipment; and
  • Control system requirements in accordance with project obligations.

Organisational Context

The role sits within the group engineering department reporting to the Storage & Hydrogen Engineering Manager working on regional projects as well as global storage standardisation and strategic procurement for PCS and batteries.

Key Accountabilities

The Energy Storage Engineer/Senior Energy Storage Engineer is responsible for:

Understanding internal and external customer technical and commercial requirements to ensure all solutions maximize value

  • Providing technical support to the project team in addressing issues with battery and PCS suppliers;
  • Undertaking the system FMEA and availability analysis for the project and incorporating associated changes into the relevant scope of design;
  • Battery sizing, battery enclosure and PCS selection and configuration;
  • Provide the technical specification for the Battery supply and PCS supply agreements;
  • Provide expert technical support to the project team during procurement, contract negotiations, and project delivery
  • Prepare the control system specification to define the control system requirements in accordance with the project obligations

Energy Storage Engineers may also support or manage other technology workstreams, including solar PV, and other regions within RES global markets.


Knowledge & Experience


Broad engineering knowledge covering electrical, mechanical and control systems.

Experience of utility scale energy generation projects/technology; solar PV and energy storage system experience would be an advantage.

Specification and implementation of energy systems.


Qualifications


Engineering Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or similar

Or, a suitable trade/non-vocational background with appropriate experience
