Opportunities to work on Climate and Energy in Bath & North East Somerset
B&NES Council has a great track record of leadership and innovation on climate and sustainability. Our new Green Transformation Service was created last year to drive action across the Council and district in response to the twin climate and ecological emergencies.
Responding to the Climate Emergency will require a transformation in the way that energy is produced and consumed within the district, as well as action by the Council, business and residents to achieve net zero and adapt to climate impacts. We’re now recruiting to two key posts, in our Energy Transformation and Climate & Engagement teams to help drive action.
Our Energy Policy & Projects Manager will play a key role in identifying and delivering partnership projects on renewable energy and domestic retrofit across the district.
Our Communications and Community Engagement Officer will lead work with local communities and stakeholders, raising awareness of climate issues and local action, giving people a greater say in how we tackle the climate emergency, and supporting community groups to take action locally.
About you
You will bring energy and passion for our transformational agenda, combining an understanding of climate policy with relevant practical experience or transferable skills.
We are looking for candidates with a positive attitude, keen to learn and to develop their careers further. Willing to challenge the status quo, with the soft skills to work effectively with technical experts, local politicians and communities.
Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.
Why B&NES Council?
We offer a wide range of benefits, to ensure that you are paid fairly for your work, have the flexibility to enjoy a great work/life balance, and have the support you need. These include:
