Job description
Cadeo works at the intersection of policy, markets, and technology. We support utilities, public agencies, and private industry in their efforts to advance energy efficiency and clean energy resources for a cleaner, more sustainable future. To this end, we characterize markets, analyze distribution channels, assess emerging technologies, and analyze policy impacts. Through these services, we provide our clients with actionable recommendations and the ongoing guidance to implement them. Our approach is simple: we listen first, ask next, and answer last.
Our Culture
Each of us helps shape the culture we want. Our work is our craft—something we want to get better at every day. So, we take it seriously. To us, that doesn’t mean formality; it means a commitment to continual development, both individually and collectively. It means having the desire to know what works better and the humility to recognize something probably does.
As we continue to grow, our culture will no doubt evolve, but the following core principles will not:
Cadeo is seeking an engineer to support energy efficiency research projects with utilities and government agencies. This is a perfect position for those getting started in the energy efficiency and/or consulting industry with an interest in building science and energy modeling. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who tackles challenging research projects with optimism and curiosity, has an attention to detail, enjoys problem solving, and is interested in learning about how buildings work and how energy efficient technologies impact energy consumption.
This position will include training in energy modeling software like EnergyPlus to become one of Cadeo’s experienced energy modelers, if the candidate does not already have this experience. In addition to building simulations, the position will include research and analysis in a variety of roles across multiple projects.
Common tasks include developing energy models of buildings, QC-ing inputs, and interpreting results. Work will also involve researching energy-efficient technologies and markets, as well as analyzing data from companies that manufacture energy-efficient products. In every-day terms, this means reviewing and understanding new emerging technologies, data collection to evaluate new technologies and systems, analyzing market and energy performance data, collaborating with the market to understand the market context and installation barriers facing new technologies, writing reports, and communicating the findings internally and externally.
This role will support senior staff in producing high-quality, accurate deliverables that communicate actionable research findings with compelling narratives and graphics by executing research activities and writing up results.
This is a full-time position in a remote work environment. This position is open to applicants based in the US.
