The Energy Advice team delivers support to help residents maximise their energy efficiency, and to make their energy costs more affordable. The main service we deliver is SHINE, a London-wide energy advice service and fuel poverty referral network which helps thousands of Londoners every year.
This role primarily involves providing support and advice to customers over the phone. Delivering tailored energy efficiency advice, liaising with energy suppliers, supporting service users that have a utility debt and making onward referrals to other interventions to improve the well-being or financial resilience of the service user.
Working under the direction of the Energy Advice Manager are a team of friendly, passionate and hard working advisors. The team currently consists of 2 Senior Energy Advisors, 8 Energy Advisors and 4 Home Energy Advisors.

1. To assist in the provision of a fuel poverty and energy advice service, including providing
comprehensive sustainable energy and affordable warmth advice to the vulnerable clients and
signposting/referring to relevant grants and schemes. To assist in the delivery of the Seasonal
Health Intervention Network (SHINE).
2. To undertake home energy visits to advise on saving energy and water. To fit smaller energy
efficiency measures and identify potential for heating and insulation measures.
3. To use a variety of methods to persuade and encourage shifts to more energy and water efficient
living and to reduce fuel and water poverty including the provision of advice and information,
training courses, workshops, and outreach work.
4. To market the council’s advisory services to clients, including: planning, co- ordinating and
delivering presentations, events, and training sessions.
5. To investigate energy related issues in the area, in particular co-ordinating the assistance that
the council’s energy advice service and other organisations may be able to provide.
6. To maintain information systems and ensure material is updated
7. To carry out regular reviews of work programmes in conjunction with management
8. To undertake reception/telephone duties, as required.
9. To deal with all correspondence in connection with duties and prepare reports as necessary.
10. To attend officer and other meetings as required and represent the Energy Policy & Advice
Team as directed.
11. To undertake other duties commensurate to the grade of the post.
