Interview Date: 21st June 2023
This role will be based on the university campus. We are also open to discussing job share and flexible working arrangements.
Are you highly numerate with the ability to analyse large sets of data? Do you have excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and work under pressure to meet strict deadlines? Do you want to work as part of a small team responsible for managing the University’s consumption of energy and water?
Estate Services, which is part of the University’s Facilities Directorate, supports the University by providing and managing the physical environment in which staff and students work, live and learn. It is committed to providing first class facilities and fitfor-purpose high quality buildings. The Energy Team is a small team which sits within Estate Services and is responsible for managing the utilities consumption across the university portfolio.
The University currently has a yearly utilities bill in excess of £20m and has committed to becoming a Net Zero carbon institution by 2030. Utilities consumption is at the core of this commitment and having accurate records and accessible data is essential to verifying our progress, as well as being fundamental to day to day University operations.
You will be responsible for processing, managing, analysing, interpreting and reporting on the University’s utilities usage and associated expenditure and for dealing with high volumes of cost and consumption data, and verifying utilities consumption across several, often complex, accounts. You will maintain accurate monthly utilities data across several platforms and present information to assist reporting and decision making on a regular basis.
You will process a large number of invoices with a high degree of accuracy on a monthly basis and be the key point of contact for day to day billing queries. If/ where required you will conduct monthly gas and electricity meter readings, often in confined spaces, where access can be limited. You will work with colleagues in the Energy Team to support analysis and provide administrative support to projects as required.
