ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS! The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Employment and Training Services, is recruiting for two Employment Services Technician 1s located in Anchorage! The position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a range 14. What You Will Be Doing: The Employment Services Technician 1 provides core and intensive employment services to job seekers and services to a very diverse customer base. This position requires critical thinking skills, presentation and public speaking skills, problem-solving skills, conflict resolution skills, and independent work strategies while utilizing a variety of computer databases and software. The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Facilitating workshops on Resume Writing, Interviewing Skills, Workplace Alaska, etc. Assisting customers with employment-related internet searches Providing mentoring and coaching to customers on job-readiness skills Conducting reemployment services assessments Assisting customers with completing online applications Providing job search assistance, and assisting customers with matching their skills to jobs in the current labor market Planning and making presentations to business and industry organizations to promote job center services for businesses; Promote the hiring of individuals from target groups of job seekers; and Fostering and developing working relationships and cooperative agreements with partners; Planning and executing job fairs and recruitment events; Increasing opportunities for businesses to connect with qualified applicants Our Organization, Mission and Culture: This position is in the Division of Employment & Training Services’ Seafood Office or Resource Room where we are committed to working with businesses and industry to build a trained and prepared Alaskan workforce. Minimum Qualifications One year of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.
