Job description

  • To work with an allocated number of people under the care of the Recovery Team, providing support to individuals along their path to education, training and/or employment.
  • To work in conjunction with team members and others involved in the person’s support.
  • To work in a way which focuses on the strengths, needs and aspirations of the service user.
  • To work under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, to support the team in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of activities which support individuals to gain retain and sustain education/training/employment and/or voluntary work.
  • To provide practical and emotional support to assist individuals in achieving specific activities, skills and tasks in order to achieve their vocational aspirations.
  • To network, liaise and work in collaboration with other local related employment, education and training workers and agencies in offer to provide service users with a range of choices and options in achieving their vocational goals.
  • Contribute to the assessments of individuals vocational needs and where agreed undertaking assessments where the EEW role is likely to be indicated.
  • Assisting with and providing activities to individuals to assist them in achieving their vocational goals.
  • Providing individualised, ongoing education, emotional and practical support to individuals in sustaining employment/education.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of the effects of illness and disability and the barriers individuals’ experience.
  • Forming and maintaining effective relationships with individuals.
  • Working with people in their own homes and appropriate community settings.
  • Working flexibly as required by the individual and their circumstances.
  • Providing education and support to employers, as agreed with the individual.
  • Developing good working relationships with other organisations that are able to help individuals to achieve their vocational goals.
  • To contribute to the assessment and management risk ofindividuals receiving a service from the team.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of casework.
  • Share expertise and knowledge with the team with regard to vocational issues, working alongside team members.
  • Evaluate activities/interventions with service users, utilising supervision.
