Embedded Software Engineer | Cheshire | 37.5 hours per week| £27,000 - £37,000
Guardian Controls is an electronics company specialising in the design and manufacture of energy efficient controls and monitoring for the refrigeration industry in the UK, Europe and internationally.
We are growing and ambitious in our plans and are looking to recruit an Embedded Software Engineer.
The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years experience in embedded development, but the position may suit a graduate with a real passion for embedded development and a willingness to immerse themselves in the role and develop their skills or an electronics engineer looking to focus/transition to embedded software development.
Strong C skills is a requirement for the role and a passion for embedded development.
Good scope of work to deliver and implement software for control hardware in real world applications.
You will work Monday to Friday - 9:00am to 5:00pm. There may be some flexibility with these hours and the possibility of some home working for the right candidate on completion of the probationary period. The probationary period is 4 months, once completed this will be a permanent position.
You should ideally be capable of, or have, knowledge of
- Excellent C programming skills
- Embedded microcontroller development, such as Atmel and Microchip
- Small footprint development
- Control theory of automation systems
- Implementing control loops, PIDs etc
- TCP/IP Network communication and serial communication
Role Responsibilities
Working on a range of existing and new products, in varying hardware platforms, the role will cover maintenance, modification and improved features of existing software and the development, testing and implementation of new software for control systems in real world refrigeration industry applications, both UK and Internationally.
An understanding of refrigeration systems is not required, as support/guidance will be provided by experienced engineers, but a willingness to learn and understand over time would be desirable.
You will work on small footprint embedded microcontrollers with our in-house designed hardware with software interfacing to the hardware, reading sensors and controlling actuators. Our products are becoming more internet connected, and an understanding of TCP-IP would be beneficial.
