PT Audio Visual Church Technician

Position Summary:
The Audio/Visual (A/V) Technician position helps facilitate meaningful in-person and virtual worship, ensuring that services and events across all facilities and ministries are able to utilize technology efficiently, effectively, and strategically in order to enhance the experience of those attending. The A/V Technician is primarily responsible for providing A/V technical support during 10am worship services, including support of live streaming of the service and providing necessary pre and post-production work and upload for future viewing. Serves as a technical A/V software/hardware and trouble-shooting expert for the church. Additionally, the A/V Technician trains back-up support volunteers.
Essential Job Functions:
- In order to provide a vibrant, accessible, and distraction-free worship experience, provides A/V technical support and maintains a reliable system for providing technical support This includes, but is not limited to:
- Audio mixing, monitor mixing, and audio recording (knowledge of current equipment)
- Switching and operating multiple PTZ (Pan, Tilt, and Zoom) cameras
- Utilizing OBS (Open Broadcast System) to livestream and video record
- Creating Canva/Google Slide presentations for in-house screens, including preparing bulletin for in-house slides, and running the slides live through OBS
- Preparing equipment for rehearsals, worship services, and events as needed
- Setting up preprogrammed shots for weekly worship
- Managing multiple livestream channels through Restream
- Editing scripture/centering words/sermon after worship each week and uploading to YouTube in a timely manner, typically by noon Wednesdays
- Shoot and edit special videos as needed for worship (e.g. offertory videos, special slideshows, announcements)
- Maintains A/V and production technologies to ensure they are in working order. Stays current on available A/V hardware/software technology, makes appropriate upgrade recommendations, and is involved in technical installations
- Participates in team worship preparation activities per the weekly workflow schedule, which may include responding to Slack or email messages and attending Zoom preparation meetings and occasional in-person planning meetings, when available
- Works alongside and coordinates responsibilities with staff and volunteers, ensuring that there is appropriate coverage for any personal Sunday service absences
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Formal training in production or related discipline, with willingness to learn and to expand knowledge.
- Hands-on experience with technology in a modern production environment, with experience in sanctuary venue preferred
- Knowledge or willingness to learn audio systems, specifically Peavey RQ-2318 18 channel console mixer
- Knowledge or willingness to learn wired and wireless microphone technology and maintenance, including battery and cable maintenance
- Detailed knowledge of live and streaming video environments, including Stream Deck switcher with multiple PTZ cameras with IP Super Controller, computer-graphics, and OBS
- Ability to learn and master new technology quickly and thoroughly and stay abreast of new technology, making appropriate upgrade recommendations when needed
- Ability to effectively collaborate, communicate, problem-solve, and maintain a resilient and positive demeanor
- Ability to effectively train volunteers
- Ability to prepare and present recommendations to church committees (e.g. Finance Committee, Executive Committee of the Church Council)
- Ability to work to support Christmas and Easter worship services and provide reliable, in-person coverage for assigned Sunday 10am worship services and occasional early services, ensuring coverage for any personal absences
Education: High school degree required, related college degree preferred
