The Opportunity
Work within a multi-discipline team employed in an off-site/in Kingdom working environment.
Provide guidance to Tornado Aircrew on Tornado EW equipment and their performance against threat systems.
Generate and deliver training courses to Tornado Aircrew on Tornado EW equipment and their performance against threat systems.
Provide support to the RSAF on all matters involving Tornado EW equipment.
Keep the Tornado LTS Programme Manager and Line Manager up-to-date on all issues covering deliveries, issues raised, potential prospects, and personal matters affecting the role.
Provide strong representation and promotion of Leonardo.
What you will do
Training
The EWOS should be a competent EW instructor providing instruction and advice to RSAF Commanders EW Issues. To maintain their awareness of current EW issues and possible updates to EW equipment. EWOS is required to brief on a variety of subjects, provide oral and written briefs, often to limited timescales.
Front Line Aircrew. To ensure that they are prepared for a designated mission. The EWOS provides briefs and courses to front line Tornado Aircrew, with the necessary EW information, on occasion will brief other fastjet Aircrew.
002 Course
The EWOS provides the 002 Course EW Training Syllabus to Tornado Aircrew during their basic training courses. This includes briefs at a basic level on Tornado EW equipment and threat systems.
003 Course
The EWOS provides the 003 Course EW Training Syllabus to Tornado Aircrew who have just arrived on front line squadrons, before they are awarded Combat Ready status. This includes briefs at an intermediate level on Tornado EW equipment and threat systems.
Weapon Instructors. The Weapon Instructor Course is a 6 month course run by the Air Warfare Centre (AWC). The EWOS is required to deliver briefs on a variety of military subjects to AWC students. The level of knowledge required by the Weapon Instructor Course is more in depth for the Tornado trainees.
Intelligence Courses. The EWOS is tasked to organise a variety of courses for Intelligence personnel from the RSAF.
These courses may include briefs on a variety of military subjects. As the majority of 'Intel' students are not required to speak English as well as the Aircrew, the EWOS has to use 'creative techniques' to ensure that learning is taking place.
Weapon Employment Course (WEC). During the WEC, which is run up to 4 times per year by the AWC, the EWOS provides briefs on a variety of EW subjects. The Course is made up of RSAF Aircrew and ground branches, such as Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Weapon Directors.
EW Library.
The EWOS is required to maintain a library of information:
Handbooks. The Surface to Air Missile (SAM) Handbook and the Air to Air Missile (AAM) Handbook.- Comparison Tables. A variety of performance comparison tables, SAM threats, AAM threats or PFM performance etc.
- PowerPoint Briefs. Briefs on regional threat systems, SAMs, AAMs, syllabus subjects and EW equipment.
- Website. Information for aircrew self-study.
- EW Advice. The EWOS is trusted to provide balanced views and advice on a broad range of subjects including:
- Procurement. Provide background briefs on EW aspects of potential procurement equipment.
- PFMs. Interpreting and providing advice on the content of PFM's produced by the RSAF.
- Flight Trials. The EWOS may be tasked to provide advice to AWC projects.
Liaison for Leonardo Interests in Eastern Province. Host Leonardo visitors as required.
What we are looking for
The EWOS should have a high level of knowledge, and be capable of instructing subject areas in the following:
Tornado EW Equipment. RHWR system, Skyshadow Pod and BOZ Pod and their PFMs.- Threat systems.
- General Open Source EW material can be utilised, the EWOS has access to the Jane's IHS website.
- Military Knowledge.
- Service experience on a wide variety of military subjects.
- Training Delivery.
- Must be capable of producing training courses, including writing all training documentation, such as syllabi, training programmes, handouts and briefs.
- Have a high level of competence in using MS Office products.
