Job description
We need to act now to create a cleaner future for our planet, and Electrogenos is working towards making that happen. We’re a ClimateTech company that's using innovative technology to make green hydrogen production much cheaper - by 5 times - to just $1 per kilogram by 2025.
Electrogenos leverages disruptive manufacturing technology with soft-tooling, innovative stack architectures, and powerful non-platinum catalysts. Scalability and continuous manufacturing are at the epicentre of our development to enable fast market uptake as we integrate facile technology improvements to maximise efficiency and leave speculative Capex-intensive players in the rear-view mirror.
Electrogenos is an impact-driven VC-backed start-up, and its team is comprised of very creative, motivated and talented individuals. Our work environment is friendly yet challenging. Employees are encouraged to bring solutions to the table and grow in responsibility. It is a fast-paced, high-growth culture designed to reach our climate mandates and democratise green energy.
About the role
We are looking for an ElectroChemist to join our young & fast-growing team. You will work closely with our technical founder to study and improve the core system of our electrolyser stack. Alongside working on technical projects, you will take a pivotal role in the filing of our commercial patents to accelerate our growth.
As a key early hire in the team, your learning journey will be vast. You'll get exposure to the full-cycle of company building from prototype production, pilot factories and commercial growth in an impact-driven VC start-up. This is a fast paced culture with a can do attitude.

- Anode/cathode catalyst and electrode development
- Integration of efficiency boosting technologies into the Electrogenos’ stack and optimisation of stack architecture
- Electrochemical corrosion analysis
Essential Skills
- Minimum bachelor’s in chemistry or equivalent experience, preferably PhD level candidates.
- Good English communication skills
- Knowledge of electrochemical reactions and understanding of water electrolysis
- Understanding of noble metal catalysts and non-noble metal catalysts
- Knowledge of electrochemical methods for electrocatalyst characterisation (polarization curves, half-cell, cyclic voltammetry, EIS, RDE)
- A background in corrosion science is highly advantageous
- Previous experience in a start-up
- Electroplating experience
We offer a competitive salary. Your compensation will match your contribution and comes in various forms. Electrogenos offers the option of doing extended 4 day weeks with the equivalent compensation as if it were a standard 5 day work week, with additional perks such as flexibility, autonomy, and international exposure. - Understand and be able to apply the basic principles of electroplating
- High data output and in a clear research structure
- Develop a long lasting OER catalyst that can last 1000h in our accelerated degradation tests
- Grow and use our network to accelerate our development efforts through external testing
