About Us
Our Bakkavor business in Bo’ness, based near Falkirk, specialises in the production of fresh, high quality salad products working primarily with premium retailers. To give a feel for the scale of manufacturing in Bo’ness we produce over 70million salad based meals and side dishes from our 2 manufacturing facilities employing over 1200 people in the town.
Our production lines are non-stop, 24/7. Whether you’ve an electrical or mechanical bias, you’ll provide a full maintenance engineering service to the business. You’ll act fast, find solutions and make sure our equipment is always 100% available and reliable. Resulting in safe and efficient production on time, every time.
The Role
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an Engineering Services Electrician to join our team at Bo'ness.
Day to day you will be carrying out minor electrical installations and maintaining the site electrical systems in line with 18th / 17th Edition wiring regulations.
Assisting with maintaining site electrical fixed wiring requirements and liaising with contractors to ensure works are carried out in a timely manner.
You will carry out RCD testing and emergency lighting checks and ensure you are maintaining the site pat testing register.
Accountabilities
- Complying with Bakkavor SHE and all statutory safety, health and environment requirements.
- Ensuring accurate and timely records are entered and recorded of all work carried out, the root causes of failures and of spares/consumables used on CMMS system.
- Ensuring electrical repairs are carried out in a timely manner and identified from fabric log and site technical repair logs.
- You will ensure that electrical systems are maintained to comply with 17th Edition regulations & the Bakkavor electrical safety procedures. Incudes electrical testing of RCD’s and lighting checks. Whilst also ensuring electrical installations are carried out in line with the 17th Edition regulations & PAT testing records are maintained & panel checks are carried out.
- Managing contractors, issuing work permits and auditing their work in the absence of the Engineering Management team.
- You will be training, developing and signing off nominated engineering staff to allow them to carry out first line maintenance to the designated plant & equipment. Ensuring that all H&S procedures, engineering best practices are always adhered to.
About you
You will hold recognised electrical qualifications - Ideally 18th edition, but 17th edition will also be considered.
You will have a minimum of 3 years maintenance experience of which a food manufacturing environment would be preferable.
It is essential that you have refrigeration maintenance skills & experience as well as competent electrical/electronic fault finding and analysis skills.
You will be able to self-manage and work under your own supervision as well as being a team player and working well with the team.
The ability to be flexible is a must due to the nature of the business.
