Electrical Technician
Bouygues Energies & Services Solutions - Colchester
Bouygues Energies & Services has recently been awarded a new contract to oversee a new University of Essex halls of residence recently built by our sister company ‘Bouygues UK’ in Colchester. To oversee this contract we need to recruit a new estates team and thus we have an immediate need for an Electrical Technician from a total FM background.

Key Activities:
- Apply relevant trade skills to any allocated jobs as directed by the Supervisor or Manager
- Work alone with minimum supervision or within a team to carry out maintenance/repair or mechanical services to plant and equipment across the site
- Work alone or in a team carrying out refurbishments and new works across the Site
Integrate and communicate effectively with other Trade Staff such as Engineers particularly for mechanical maintenance, new and remedial works - Responsible for the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of mechanical services, associated plant/equipment installed throughout the site
- Carry out electrical works as required i.e., new works, refurbishment, and capital works
- Carry out electrical repairs and cleaning of electrical equipment as necessary
- Respond promptly and efficiently to plant breakdowns/ fire evacuations
- Undertake training and qualify as AP or CP for electrical plant and systems as required
- Required to participate call out rota
- Required to attend training to meet contract requirements and for self-development purposes
- Integrate and communicate effectively with the M&E, building and fabric maintenance function
- Comply with company policies and procedures
Skills & Qualifications:
- Must hold an electrical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant electrical discipline with suitable industry experience; 18th Edition is essential
- Experience in building services is required, including fault finding and rectifying
- Able to demonstrate effective planning, organising and prioritising skills
- Be able to demonstrate initiative and judgement to resolve problems independently
- In-depth knowledge of Health and Safety procedures, formal training an advantage
