Associated British Ports (ABP) is both a major landlord and port operator with 21 port locations in the UK. Our Newport port plays a major role in our current operations and is an important cog in the Future Ports: Wales Vision plan which we’re starting to implement, so we can improve transport links, provide decarbonising energy resources and encouraging port-based manufacturing. Handling over £1Bn of UK Trade annually it offers excellent road and rail links to service Britain's key industrial and commercial regions. The port currently handles high volumes of agribulks, forest products and steel & other construction materials.

Due to an internal promotion we're looking to add an additional Electrical Technician to assist with maintaining a wide range of Electrically focused machinery. The role is responsible for planned and reactive maintenance works on LV equipment covering motor driven equipment, lighting, cranes, machinery, ship locks, sluices and associated equipment. You should have proven experience of inspection, fault diagnostics, maintenance and installation work. Prior maintenance of cranes, in particular gantry cranes is helpful and the role will involve working at height, working near water and in confined spaces.

Key Requirements

• Experience in a electrical maintenance role ideally within the port sector or heavy industry

• Adept with planned & reactive maintenance tasks – including fault finding knowledge

• Full Driving licence

• High standards of health & safety

• Ability to work in a team

This is a shift based role, M-F with salary of circa £36k and optional overtime available at the weekend. The role is working alternate weeks of 0600-1400 & 1400-2200 with a 12.5% shift premium, contributory pension from day one (Starting at 8% with 2% company match up to 18%), private healthcare, access to our Employee Assistance Program, 26 days annual leave (plus bank holidays and increasing with service – plus the option to purchase additional days), wide range of discounts and cash back with high street and online retailers.
