We are looking for an Engineering Trainer (Electrical Engineering) to join our Apprentice Training Team based at OAS in Oxford.
This Engineering Trainer role is required to manage and develop a comprehensive and innovative teaching and learning experience in a variety of practical and theoretical skills within the current apprenticeship trailblazer standards.
The role will require you to deliver high quality technical training to small groups of learners through face-to-face or online learning following a nationally recognised qualification.
You will also develop softer skills which are embedded within apprenticeships. This will require you to provide regular constructive feedback to learners and record the impact of their own learning on a regular basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Effective delivery of mechanical based knowledge and practical subjects at level 2, 3 and HNC, developing independent learners.
- Enable apprentice progression towards successful completion of both the level 3 apprenticeship and HNC programmes.
- Manage physical learning resources and teaching spaces required to ensure the training and assessment of learners is achieved within the guided learning hours.
- Create learning content and development of apprenticeship trailblazers’ schemes-of-work.
- Identify and coordinate the integration of relevant existing training offers from industry partners into the apprenticeship scheme of work.
- Monitor the learning environment.
- Ensure learner workplace health, safety and welfare by working with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Person Specification
We are looking for a candidate who can:

- Be comfortable updating various internal stakeholders on a regular basis and give presentations to a wide variety of audiences.
- Work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

- High levels of organisation skill and attention to detail.
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
Essential:
- Industry related qualifications such as HND, or NVQ's
- 18th Edition qualified to deliver Industrial Electrical engineering
- Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSE's in Maths and English grade C or above.
Desirable:
- CAVA or equivalent assessor qualifications.
- Recognised Training/Teaching Qualification.
- Internal Quality Assurance qualifications.
About The MTC
The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) was established in 2010 as an independent Research & Technology Organisation (RTO) with the objective of bridging the gap between academia and industry – often referred to as ‘the valley of death’.
It represents one of the largest public sector investments in UK manufacturing and, after four years of planning and a 16 month build, the facility opened at Ansty Park in Coventry at the end of 2011.
In December 2011, there were 16 industrial members, 44 staff and just a few key pieces of equipment in the ‘workshop’.
Over the following 10+ years the MTC’s rapid growth has seen the expansion of our campus with the construction of three more facilities, including the opening of the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre and the National Centre for Additive Manufacturing.
Our role has also increased to cover not only R&D but also Training, Advanced Manufacturing Management and Factory Design.
We now have over 800 talented employees working with us.
