Electrical Building Maintenance - Apprenticeship 2023 – Cambridge
Our Building Services Facilities Management team provides mechanical and electrical maintenance services to hospitals, schools, MOD sites and other commercial buildings across the UK to make sure they are safe and comfortable.
As an Apprentice Electrical Technician, you will be working as part of a team of engineers and will learn to carry out planned and emergency break down maintenance to electrical and mechanical plant & equipment in buildings.
What will you be learning to do?
Work alongside an experienced Electrical Engineer and carry out small electrical installation works, generator testing, rectifying power loss, emergency light testing, finding lighting faults and changing plug sockets and switches- Understand and complete building maintenance-related documentation
- Understand the value of excellent customer service
Where will you be working?
You will be based either at Royal Papworth Hospital, just outside of Cambridge. You will be on your feet most of the day and will be using tools to carry out electrical maintenance tasks.
What qualification will you be studying towards?
Through day release to a local nominated college, Skanska will provide support and funding to help you achieve a formal Level 3 Installation Electrician and Maintenance qualification
Apprenticeship standard: Installation electrician and maintenance electrician / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education
What will we need from you?
- You will be required to hold GCSEs in Maths and English at grade 9 to 4 or equivalent or level 2 functional skills in Maths and English.
- Passion for electrical maintenance
- You should enjoy working with people and within hospital environment
- Good problem-solving skills
- Keen to learn and pro-active approach to work
What can we offer you?
Support and funding to help you achieve a Level 3 qualification as an Installation and Maintenance Electrician.- Starting salary: £16K per year
