Health & Safety Manager – Refresco UK, Bridgwater, Somerset (just off J23 of the M5)

Refresco the world's leading independent soft drink's manufacturer, have a fantastic opportunity for an 'agile', 'excellent' and 'responsible' Health &Safety Manager to join the leadership team at our Refresco Bridgwater site in Somerset.
Reporting to the Site General Manager and a key member of the Site Leadership Team, you are a subject matter expert on HSE issues, across the manufacturing site. You lead the site safety programme and contribute to delivery of the UK HSE agenda.
You will be responsible for driving forward the HSE management systems on site and will be part of a team of HSE Managers working across our UK sites together with our Head of HSE, to ensure consistency is achieved and best practice is shared.
Refresco Bridgwater is one of the largest and most progressive drink's manufacturing sites globally. Some statistics for you – 650 colleagues across 158,000 square metres, 4 factories, a large warehouse and transport facility, all under one roof, housing the latest, leading edge engineering technology producing 800 million litres per annum of soft drinks for our many own label and contract manufacturing customers from 28 production lines.

About the Role
The Bridgwater site is a 24/7 operation. As HSE Manager you are an important role model and member of the site leadership team. You own and manage the site HSE objectives, HSE training, audit schedules, non-conformances and close outs, employee liability claims and PPE requirements. You will need to manage and report on accident statistics, environmental annual permit returns, and KPI's. You manage a small team including a Sustainability Manager.
As HSE here are some of your key responsibilities:
Maintain and continuously improve the site HSE MS procedures to ensure robust processes are in place
Provide technical support, advice and guidance to managers on HS&E legal compliance and best practice
Work closely with the Engineering department to deliver capital projects
Play an active part of yield/waste reduction on site with the production team, and play an active part in the management of the Refresco Sustainability programme
Actively promote a HSE culture to ensure participation is across all levels
Co-ordination of site EMS and Environmental Permit
Providing support, assistance and guidance to Departments on risk assessment, emergency response, HSE audits and inspections and development of HSE operating procedur
About You
You will have extensive HSE experience ideally working within an FMCG, or related industry, manufacturing environment, with up to date knowledge of UK HSE legislation. A NEBOSH Diploma in Health & Safety or equivalent is preferred as is a formal environmental qualification.
This role is ideal for an experienced health, safety and environmental professional who understands the principles of risk management and has extensive experience with integrated management systems that are aligned with ISO 14001, ISO 45001. The ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams and build effective working relationships is essential. Experience of designing and implementing HSE initiatives and developing training materials would also be beneficial.
