Family Learning Tutor – Maternity cover

Salary range (pro rata): £20,000 to £30,000

Interested in working with primary scholl children and adults. This is a rare opportunity to join our team of Educators in the delivery of a range of specialised workshops, including Health & Wellbeing and RSE, to primary aged children throughout Nottinghamshire and the surrounding counties. You will also receive training to deliver Family Learning courses and workshops where Parents, Grandparents and Carers learn alongside their children in the school setting to enable the adults to support their children’s learning and behaviour. This post will be two days a week Family Learning and 2 days workshops for primary aged children.
This is a perminant full time teaching post.
You will have:
- primary-age teaching qualifications/experience, knowledge and proven skills in PSHE and wellbeing education
- the confidence and ability to work closely with teachers (as well as children) to ensure they fully embed our work within their wider provision
- the ability and willingness to undertake induction training (3 months, full-time) and ongoing periodic training outside the region
- an awareness of, and commitment to, equal opportunities principles and practice
- a flexible approach as the days worked each week may vary
- be resident in the North Nottinghamshire area, and have the ability and willingness to travel to schools throughout Nottinghamshire and the surrounding counties when required
- Be willing to deliver Family Learning courses in Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City schools
The successful candidate will be required, where necessary, to set-up and pack away the Life Space (inflatable classroom), which will involve transporting 2 large bags with wheels weighing circa 18kg each. This is primarily a home based post and the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. Applicants must have eligibility to work in the UK and a full UK driving licence.

- · the ability and willingness to travel, using your own transport, to schools
throughout the region at the times necessary
- · This is an active role involving gentle movement and carrying of lightweight
equipment.

JOB DESCRIPTION - EDUCATOR -Roles & Responsibilities
The programmes and SCARF are designed to develop children’s knowledge, skills and attitudes in relation to their physical and emotional health and wellbeing and will support schools in achieving health and wellbeing outcomes for children, including National
Curriculum, PSHE and Ofsted requirements in relation to these (in particular SMSC). Please refer to CLE’s Outcomes Evaluation Framework for more details.
Programmes are delivered:
● Face-to-face, at the children’s school, nursery (or other educational establishment),
LifeBase Interactive Facilities; or LifeSpace.
● Remotely via video platform from the educator’s home or a designated studio
(SCARF Live Online). Additional training required.
● Set up SCARF licences for new schools and subscribers and maintain follow up support at least once a term to include problem solving and prompting renewal discussions.
● Ensure that schools contracting the Coram Life Education service are fully prepared to receive and maximise the benefit from the service, each time they use it, through effective planning, scheduling, timetabling and thorough preparation work with teachers.
● Ensure that school staff are fully equipped to integrate SCARF (including the CLE programmes) into their existing provision for children’s mental health, wellbeing, safeguarding and PSHE education by delivering whole-staff training.
● Update clebase central record of prospects, sales and renewals, alerting central team to strategic observations. Maintain up-to-date records of correspondence with schools.
● Secure opportunities to promote our work at professional events, school cluster meetings, twilights etc. Undertake activities as required by the employer to support fundraising, the awareness of the service and the uptake of the service by schools and other responsible bodies.
● Ensure that parents and carers are given an opportunity to become aware of the content and purpose of the Coram Life Education programmes to enable them to support children in the implementation of their learning from the Coram Life Education programmes.
● Undertake ongoing professional development including Coram Life Education CPD events) to ensure that the post holder is fully conversant with the developments and changes in children’s mental health, wellbeing, safeguarding and PSHE education and their impact on the strategies and policies of Coram Life Education.
● Ensure at all times, and have as a priority, the health and safety of children and adults in relation to safe operating practices of LifeBase, LifeSpace and SCARF Live
Online Interactive (equipment, appropriate online methods and safeguarding).
● Ensure and promote the consistent use of recommended systems for; evaluating and monitoring programmes, SCARF activity and customer relationship management. Respond to requests by employer and CLE Central Team for evidence and trends.
● Where trained and requested to do so by the CLE Central Team, contribute to delivery of Educator induction/CPD, and curriculum resource development.

The role of the Educator is as the main delivery resource of the Life Education Programmes
(including SCARF). The programmes seek to make young people aware of the physiological and psychological challenges facing them as they develop. They provide a range of interactive teaching strategies, including drama and puppetry (for which full training will be given), and activities to develop pupils’ knowledge, skills and personal attitudes about health, including the misuse of drugs (including medicines, alcohol and tobacco) and sex and relationships education, and the choices they have in relation to these.
Where a school contracts the service it is the responsibility of the Educator to ensure:
❖ Full integration of the visit by ensuring that contracting schools are fully prepared to receive and maximise the benefit from the service, each time they use it. This is achieved through effective planning – where content is matched to schools’ needs – scheduling and timetabling;
❖ Briefing of managers and thorough preparation work with teachers (in the form of Coram
Life Education designed Inset) prior to the visit;
❖ Working to ensure that the programme is integrated into schools’ existing provision for
PSHE by additional means, if appropriate.
v Face-to-face programmes use specially designed visual aids, models and Interactive positive teaching strategies that will encourage interest and build decision-making and critical thinking skills amongst the class of children in relation to a range of issues.
v NOTE: part or all of this training may have to take place out of the successful candidate’s area, depending on availability of a suitable trainer. Training may also take place online.

Educator
Family Learning courses
To deliver a full range of Family Learning courses, working with Parents and Carers and children in both schools and other venues throughout the region, and ensure their integration into the education process in that region.
To liaise with schools, other delivery partners, and other statutory and voluntary agencies, when needed
To offer Information Advice and Guidance to all learners on every course where appropriate, for then to continue training by attending other courses, volunteering or into employment.
School contacts and administration
To contact schools and work with other partnership organisations to recruit; and to ensure that the school is well prepared to receive Family Learning, by:
- visiting and discussing with all staff the content and the aims and objectives of the programmes, the teaching style, prior to commencement of the programme
- working out a schedule/timetable for the Courses and doing administration in relation to the Course.
- Using Service Level Agreements to ensure safe and high-quality provision.
- Follow all Health and Safety, and Risk Assessment guidelines and procedures.
- To arrange crèche facilities where needed
- Working in partnership with school staff to recruit enough adult learners to each course to meet the targets set by the funders including levels of learning, gender, disabilities, special needs, attendance and retention.
- Maintaining a high-quality Tutor Folder which includes Scheme of Work, Lesson Plans which are annotated for each individual course, venue, learners etc., highlighting Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Registers and ILPs including and personalised learning.
- Completing all paperwork to the standard expected by City Family Learning and County Inspire Learning, and returning it to City CFL, Inspire and Sue Archer in a timely fashion.
Course Delivery
To ensure that learners receive a high-quality learning experience which helps them to increase their confidence and skills in supporting their children’s learning, with particular reference to the learning outcomes of each course, and also the key aims and objectives and ethos of LEEM and Coram Life Education.
To provide high quality resources to support the learning.
To ensure that there is a positive, solution focussed ethos within the group, which is non-judgemental, and which encourages the sharing of good practice amongst the learners.
Personal and Professional Development
- To undertake such training and development courses as are deemed necessary or appropriate by LEEM, Family Learning, Inspire Learning or Sue Archer or Cheryl Fox.
- To undertake such research or reading as necessary to maintain, and be able to demonstrate, professionally acceptable levels of knowledge, understanding, and familiarity with issues relating to the courses.
- To take part in Life Education East Midlands personnel appraisal scheme, including lesson observations.
Research, Evaluation, and Development
To make reports on school visits, development and Courses delivered as are requested by LEEM, Inspire Adult and Community Learning Service or Nottingham City Community and Family Learning.
General
By mutual agreement, to carry out such other appropriate duties as may be required from time to time in connection with the work of Life Education Centres Nottinghamshire.
