Role Overview:
Oldham is a vibrant and highly valued service where you will have the opportunity to be involved in a range of work. Our traded work is always in demand and our expanded offer, including intervention work, has been well received this year. We work closely with our SEND colleagues and support in a variety of ways, prioritising consultation and multi-agency problem solving to support our children and young people. EPs are central to the local authority’s strategic work and you will be supported in developing area specialisms and taking a lead in areas of interest. You will work closely with a range of council services and other stakeholders to support preventative work in Oldham and in doing so make a real difference for children with special educational needs and disabilities. With the expansion of our team we are developing our supervision and induction offers to ensure you get the support and development opportunities you need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high quality applied psychological advice to schools and services.
- Maintain a focus on prevention and early intervention and contribute to positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Contribute creatively to service development initiatives.
- Work in close partnership with children and young people and their families.
- Work with colleagues to develop and deliver key courses and materials, as part of the service offer, e.g. Emotional Literacy Support Assistants, Emotionally Based School Avoidance, Autism in Education.
- Work with assistant EPs to support delivery of intervention programmes
- Support a patch of school in meeting the needs of children and young people with additional needs.
- Develop your own skills and practice through continuing professional development, participation in service days and team meetings and accessing supervision.
- Work alongside other services such as the Mental Health in Education Team & Advisory Teachers.
- Contribute to workstreams and council priorities alongside the partnership, with a focus on co-production.
Key Requirements:
To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:
- Honours degree in Psychology (or recognised equivalent) with Graduate Basis for Registration as required by the British Psychological Society.
- Qualifying post graduate professional qualification in educational psychology or currently in Year 3 of the doctoral course
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; as well as the ability and experience to analyse and interpret data and present it effectively to various audiences.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
