Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well established, vibrant Young Peoples Outreach Team as an Educational Outreach Worker.

The successful candidate will be passionate about improving the sexual health and well being of the particularly vulnerable and excluded groups who we work with, across the city of Manchester.

You will be a confident, effective communicator in delivering educational sessions around relationships and sexual health, both in group settings and on a 1:1 basis. You will be comfortable discussing sensitive issues with a confident approach and be able to respond sensitively and in a non judgmental manner as and when appropriate.

You will possess an excellent knowledge of the law and safeguarding relating to young people.

To work closely within the Young People’s Outreach Team playing a key role to further development and delivery of a vibrantly wide outreach service to young people under 25, particularly those under the age of 19.

The focus will be sexual health and teenage pregnancy with an emphasis on “hard to reach” young people i.e. those not in mainstream educations, LAC, supported accommodation.
Able to deliver training to other professionals/practitioners who also work with young people.

To enhance other professionals knowledge and skills relating to
contraception and sexual health.
To contribute to local and national contraception and sexual health targets.
Plan and implement in the development and delivery of informal relationships and sex education for young people in a variety of settings
Adapting sessions where necessary e.g. for those young people with English as a second language or with learning disabilities.
