Job description
The Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) are designed to help meet mild to moderate mental health needs of children and young people in education settings. The teams are made up of senior clinicians, CAMHS Practitioners and Education Wellbeing Practitioners (EMHPs) all based across education settings. The teams are an additional resource within a whole-system approach to promote resilience and wellbeing, to support earlier intervention, enable appropriate signposting and deliver evidence-based support, care and interventions. The MHSTs partner with their education settings to design a bespoke offer, based on the school’s individual needs and work with the mental health services that are already in place, such as counselling, educational psychology, school nurses, pastoral care, educational welfare officers, Voluntary Community and social enterprises, the local authority, including children’s social care, and NHS Children and Young People Mental Health Services (CYPMHS)
We are looking for Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners and Qualified Children's Wellbeing Practitioners to join the teams and work with us to develop the services further and ensure that we continue to meet our three the core components.

Our senior Clinical Team are passionate about the careers of EMHP's and CWP's and we have exciting CPD program happening in service and have worked closely with Health Education England (HEE) and NHS England to look at the career pathways of this new work force.
We have vacancies in different parts of Lewisham borough which has excellent transport links. We hope successful candidates will come with a passion for participation and service development as we have a number of co-production projects we are working on. It is also the aspiration that successful candidates will be keen to develop their skills further to consider their exciting career prospects within MHST services. We have strong links with Kings College London and are looking at developing our staff to progress into further training and development opportunities.
The teams are based at at the Kaleidoscope Centre 32 Rushey Green, Lewisham SE6 4JF, as well as a cross nearly 40 schools in Lewisham
Our Trust headquarters is also located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2). The South London and Maudsley provide services and operate across other locations, such as London boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; and substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Lambeth, Greenwich and Wandsworth

About the role:
There are currently three MHSTs in Lewisham, a North Hub, a Central Hub and a South Hub working across schools and planning to further extend our offer. The successful candidate will be employed by Lewisham CAMHS. MHST deliver emotional wellbeing interventions using Guided Self-Help strategies. You will have successfully completed training as a trainee EMHP/CWP and will be equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge and capabilities to work as a qualified EMHP/ CWP, as an autonomous and responsible practitioner within your scope of practice, alongside education and health colleagues.
You will be confident in providing Guided Self Help to young people and families in anxiety, low mood and challenging behaviours. You will be flexible and creative in responding to the needs of the school populations, with excellent support from your team and supportive supervision. You will able to deliver group and individual interventions, and also be able to adapt to working remotely and prioritising access to services and resources.
The MHST are a friendly and supportive team who have developed a close partnership with Lewisham schools in providing low intensity interventions, creating workshops and groups for parents and children and adapting services to meet the needs of schools, young people and families in Lewisham in line with CYP-IAPT principles.
