North East Lincolnshire’s Education Welfare Service is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, dynamic, and committed part-time Education Welfare Officer to work with both schools and families to improve school attendance and ensure young people receive their educational entitlement.

The Role & Team
The Education Welfare Service sits within the wider Inclusion Service which also includes Elective Home Education, the Virtual School and working with children who have been permanently excluded, so a commitment to inclusive practice is crucial.
The role will be working within a small but highly experienced team, but the successful candidate will also need to be able to demonstrate experience of decision making, using their own initiative and contributing to the continuing development of the Education Welfare Service.

Fixed Term Contract for 1 Year

The role is term-time only plus 9 additional days across the academic year.

3 days per week.

About You
Applicants must have previous experience of working with families or in a school setting, dealing with complex caseloads and the ability to write clear and accurate reports, including court papers. The role will require the successful candidate to undertake home visits and so a current driving licence and the ability to drive across North East Lincolnshire is an essential aspect of the role.
Excellent communication skills are a necessity as the role requires working with young people, families and school leaders and will involve both attending and chairing meetings around attendance.

Interview date: 9th June 2023

Start date: In line with our ‘Day One: NEL Induction Process’, we would like to aim to have the successful candidate in post by 4th September 2023.

(However, this may be subject to change and will of course be dependent on your notice period and relevant pre-employment clearances being completed)
