Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader and education governance specialist to lead our Education Governance Team. The successful applicant will have a lead role in shaping and delivering high quality statutory and traded education governance support, advice, and training to the full range of local schools and education providers from early years to post-16.
Our Education Governance Team works with many schools in Croydon, providing both statutory and traded services, as well as providing traded services to schools across London. We provide a full range of support, advice, training and clerking services, as well as ensuring that the Local Authority fulfils our statutory duties in relation to school governance, particularly where there are concerns.
Our Education Governance Team is well-established and we pride ourselves on having excellent relationships with local schools and customers. The team has recently expanded to meet the high demand for our services, and this high-profile role will be expected to build upon this solid foundation to ensure that the Council continues to work in collaboration with all education settings and other key partners to improve our children and young people’s education and wellbeing outcomes.
The team has developed a successful and profitable traded offer, but there is ample opportunity for you to use your creativity and commercial acumen to strengthen our traded service to schools ensuring that our offer meets local needs and evolving national policy, is high quality and financially viable.
Due to the demands of the role, it is offered on a full-time (36 hrs per week) basis only although job-share arrangements will also be considered.
We operate an agile working policy, including hybrid home/office working. When applying for this role you should consider that, due to the nature of school governance operating hours (typically outside of school hours), there is a need to frequently work twilight and evening sessions with occasional Saturdays. Whilst this is usually planned, ability to work flexibly is essential for this role.
Please refer to the role profile and service structure for more information. If you have any questions, please contact the Head of Education Services – Julie Ralphs at [email protected]
Closing date for applications: Sunday 30 April at 11:59pm
Shortlisting: week ending 5th May 2023
Interviews: May 2023
