Job description
This post sits within Digital Academic Practice in the Education Development Service. It involves working across the university with all departments and disciplines. Depth and breadth of experience and knowledge coupled with highly developed communication skills are important to this position. The post requires an ability to act as an expert facilitator and consultant offering expertise and guidance to deliver university and HE sector priorities. University strategic priorities which this role will contribute to include closure of attainment gaps, improved student retention, progression and outcomes, transitions into Higher Education, digital transformation, and design, enhancement and review of curriculum and assessment. Applications are welcome from individuals with a Further Education background.
As an Education Developer core responsibilities include:
- working with colleagues across Education Development Service and professional services to implement education development and enhancement plans and deliver well-aligned education practice.
- supporting Faculty academic colleagues in interpreting local data and reports to explore and understand the student experience and potential improvements to be made and to report on findings at programme, Faculty and University level.
- contribution to the delivery and design of credit-bearing and accredited programmes.
- sustaining a positive and productive working relationship with various stakeholders across the university.
- providing specialist, professional advice to academic and professional services colleagues.
- maintaining currency in HE pedagogy and educational development practice through engaging in scholarly practice.
Candidates should have:
- A good honours degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- FHEA status (or the capacity to gain recognition within one year)
- Experience of education development activity (this could be within an HE or FE setting)
- Teaching experience (this could be at foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate level and could be within a HE / FE setting)
- Strong and effective IT / digital skills
- Good communication skills with the ability to persuade influence and negotiate with others.
Able to demonstrate:
- Effective practice in the main activities and responsibilities of the role
- Ability to work in a team
- Understanding of the Higher Education sector.
