Job description
Under the guidance and supervision of the Community Development Manager, the Education Coordinator will aid in pursuing academic success for Native American youth, will plan and execute cultural enrichment events and activities, and will plan and execute STEAM learning opportunities that improve academic, career, cultural, and social/emotional development for Native American and Alaskan Native students in Texas. The Education Coordinator must be available to work outside typical operating hours of the organization, such as weekends and weekday evenings.
General Hours
Tues-Sat 10:00am-7:00pm (subject to change when necessary)
Major Duties and Responsibilities
· Cultural Enrichment Events & Activities
· Be responsible for the planning and execution of hands-on educational events aimed at connecting Native American youth and families with their culture.
· Work closely with program administrators to set a budget for each event, ensuring events stay within that budget, and maintain accurate historical information pertaining to event expenses.
· Develop and manage registration processes for all events.
· Work closely with Marketing Specialist to assist in development of promotion material for each event by providing necessary information in a timely manner.
· Work with event venues and third-party vendors on event logistics.
· Serve as on-site contact on the day of events.
· Administer and collect post class and event surveys, record attendance information, and maintain all other necessary data for TNH events.
· Serve as point of contact for facility rentals and manage a reservation calendar.
· Be available for community engagement with entities such as churches, non-profit organizations, and universities.
STEAM Activities
· Assist the Education Coordinator in planning and execution of STEAM activities to students on an ongoing basis.
· Assist the Education Coordinator and Marketing Specialist with creating and implementing marketing strategies and communications to expand program outreach and participation.
· Assist the Education Coordinator in preparing students for life experiences by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and persevere through challenging tasks.
· Assist Education Coordinator in planning and executing off-site field trips for youth. Serve as a student chaperone during outings.
· Serve as a mentor in the lives of youth enrolled in the Pathways Program. This role may involve encouraging students and/or parents to seek additional assistance from mental health professionals, when necessary, from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
· Knowledge and experience in working with Native American youth and/or Knowledgeable about Native American Culture
· Associate degree in education, or related field preferred.
· Project management experience and time-management skills for juggling numerous time- sensitive projects simultaneously.
· Public Speaking skills
· Excellent interpersonal skills. Service-oriented and polished individual. Must be at ease representing organization in member-facing, professional role at meetings and events.
· Strong organizational skills, ensuring details are not overlooked.

Conditions of Employment:
· US citizenship is required.
· Must be flexible with work hours, as hours are subject to change from time to time.
· Must be able to pass extensive background investigation, including fingerprinting
· Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment
· Must pass a 9-panel drug test (excluding marijuana), driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
· COVID-19/Hep B/Seasonal Influenza Immunizations and TB Test Required
