Location: Hybrid working for either our office in Durrington or Falmer (the choice is yours!) 2-3 days a week and working from home.
Perm/FTC: Permanent
Hours: 37 hrs, Monday to Friday but we’d also be very happy to consider a job share!
Salary: up to £34,700 depending on skills and experience
Are you passionate about protecting and improving the environment?
Do you want to help support and encourage young people to do the same?
Southern Water cares about our customers, the environment, and wants to listen to and address the challenges faced by our communities and support the next generation to be ready for future climate challenges. That is why we’re looking for a natural educator and brand ambassador who enjoys networking and who thrives when working with children and young people to join the team.
As our Education Officer, you’ll be joining our community engagement team of 3 people. This is a small team with big ambitions and your role will be to look after all Southern Water’s educational programmes for Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils, delivered in schools across the South. This will be a fun combination of assembly talks, interactive class activities and managing our education partnerships, bursaries and relationships with schools and colleges across our region! You’ll also get involved in the organisation of site tours of our Water and Wastewater Treatment Centres for schools and coordinating the relevant Health & Safety checks in preparation for these events.
If you’re familiar with working in a school or education setting or with children in other capacities and are confidently able to inspire, engage and motivate a room of young students then we’d love to hear from you! All our trips and schools’ programmes have inclusivity at their heart; including Special-Educational-Need adaptations so experience with this would also be desirable but is not essential.
Have other skills that you think would suit the role that we haven’t listed? Why not go ahead an apply! We recognise the value that having different perspectives and experiences can bring.
What’s in it for you?
As well as a salary of up to £34,700 per annum, we offer hybrid working which means you will only need to attend an office 2-3 times per week and the rest you can choose where to work. We can be flexible with base location so you can choose the Worthing or Falmer office depending on what suits you best!
We also offer several additional benefits such as Perkbox, offering discounts and savings on several products and experiences, two paid community volunteering days per year and much more.
Do you believe everyone should be accepted for who they are? We do too. That’s why we’re building an inclusive culture and are proud to offer equal opportunities regardless of age, cultural background, disability, gender, marital status, nationality, political belief, race, religion or sexual orientation. We believe the unique perspectives and experiences each of us brings make us stronger.
