Education and Community Officer Remote
Job description
We are seeking a passionate individual with a commitment to animal welfare to join our Education Team working within schools and in the community to educate children and families on responsible dog ownership and dog safety.
Please note that this is a homebased role with requirement of regular travel within Lancashire and surrounding areas.
Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and normally cares for around 14,000 dogs across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy and will never put a healthy dog to sleep.
Dogs Trust Education Team have been carrying out workshops in schools and in the community since 2003. Educating the dog owners of the future about responsible dog ownership is an important part of what we do at Dogs Trust. By helping young people learn about the responsibilities and commitment involved in dog ownership, we believe that we can reduce the number of dogs that are mistreated and/or abandoned. Our workshops also incorporate key safety messages that are integral for keeping young people and their families safe when around dogs.
The successful candidate will have a recognised teaching qualification and experience of delivering confidently and passionately to young people. You'll have plenty of creativity and enthusiasm teamed with a knowledge local dog welfare issues as well a basic understanding of the aims and objectives of Dogs Trust.
A full, manual driving licence is also essential.
