We cultivate strong relationships with Apple's editorial, business, and marketing teams around the world and focus on delivering the best user experience for our customers worldwide. We are looking for an experienced Manager to support our growing organization. This person will help establish and lead a team of Language Managers who will work cross-functionally to drive language strategy, actively provide editorial and creative input to the local business strategy and deliver top-notch quality copy. This role will partner with its counterpart in APAC to ensure global alignment across all Language Managers and closely collaborate with Central Editorial teams to understand and rally behind global copy vision and strategy. This role places you in a highly-energized environment with some of the most diverse and hardworking creative individuals in the industry where you would be inspired to share your knowledge and years of experience. Next to driving the results of the team and delivering on your own assignments, you will help, guide and inspire people within your team and the wider organization. The preferred location for this role, based on the business needs is EMEIA. We do have some flexibility on the office location within the region, as long as it is an office that currently supports the content and services groups. Key Qualifications

  • A background in creative and copy, ideally music journalism and criticism, with strong writing and editing chops
  • Experience guiding writers in crafting eloquent, sharp copy that helps our users discover content and artists around the world
  • Experience with interviewing artists and distilling that into editorial featuresExperience working cross-functionally to help develop and streamline process.
  • Ability to handle multiple fast-paced projects.
  • Strong relationship management and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.
  • Consistent track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge relevant to our content types (particularly Music) and an appetite for learning about differences in consumption across geos.
  • You have a deep familiarity with the Apple ecosystem of services and hardware (MacOS, iOS, Apple Music, App Store, Apple Podcasts, Apple TV+, etc.)

Description

Lead Language Managers on driving language strategy to ensure our services feel local in all relevant markets. Communicate effectively with Editorial teams to identify needs and opportunities for Language Managers to provide creative input and help evolve local tone and voice. Work with counterparts to establish and evolve roles and responsibilities of the team. Work towards standarizing the role and streamlining the processes. Monitor copy quality for the region and work with Language Managers and Freelancers to maintain a feedback loop and share metrics. Ensure editorial and linguistic assets (TMs, glossaries, style guides, etc) are up to date. Proofread and edit back-translations into English into publish-ready quality. Work with freelancers to achieve quality at source on en-ROW deliverables. Closely collaborate with localization producers leads to maximize collaboration and minimize inefficiencies. Encourage team to proactively provide inputs on UI, UX, and design for products launching in international markets in order to deliver the best possible user experience.

Education & Experience

BA or higher. Extensive related work experience. People management experience required.
