Reports To: Digital Content Manager

Location: Reading, UK
Job-Type: 12-month FTC

Purpose of the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Editorial Lead to join our Digital Content team.

As an Editorial Lead, you will have the opportunity to join a growing, dynamic and innovative Digital team. You will play a key role in managing all editorial content from concept through to delivery, ensuring all collections and product launches are executed to a high standard, as well as managing a growing editorial team.

We are looking for an Editorial Lead that can create attractive and appealing content to ensure the continued engagement of the Primark audience, but also to attract new audience members. You will help deliver our mission of distributing fashion and brand stories which inspire current and new followers of the brand. You will lead a very strong in-house editorial team, working closely with our wider digital marketing teams. You will have the ability to work in a fast paced, tenacious and creative environment. The successful candidate will also have an in-depth understanding of editorial and publishing along with a passion for purposeful content.

Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be joining a fast-paced environment, with the opportunity to work with key stakeholders within the Primark business.

The Editorial Lead will have the following responsibilities:
  • Ensure an in-depth understanding of the Digital content strategy, as defined by the Digital Content Manger and ensure its successful rollout by the editorial team
  • Align with the Design Lead and Lead Copywriter to ensure a cohesive approach to the look, feel and tone of voice of the brand across all editorial touchpoints
  • Work closely with UX Design Lead to ensure editorial content is easily accessible and visible to the customer in as many different locations as possible, driving customer engagement
  • Manage the roll out of the international localised content, ensuring the vision and planning are centralised and aligned to brand guidelines
  • Develop and test new strategies and formats which align with tone of voice and overall content strategy
  • Pitch and present Editorial driven concepts and be able to articulate and implement creative ideas
  • Encourage a test and learn approach across the editorial team
  • Conduct competitor analysis on a regular basis, presenting findings and insights to key stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Design Lead to develop and enhance the look and feel of current editorial content
  • Ensure the empowerment, engagement and motivation of a team of writers
  • Ensure the team are fully equipped with the required tools and training to succeed within their roles
  • Work closely with the SEO team to implement an SEO and keywork strategy for the editorial team
  • Ensure the Editorial Teams editing, and subbing of content aligns with brand guidelines
  • Be competent in the use of Content Management Systems and work management tools such as JIRA
  • Manage the Digital Content Team’s editorial calendar, consistently meeting strict deadlines
  • Ensure all copy, images and content are accurate and of a high quality
  • Work as part of a cross functional team to deliver larger scale integrated campaigns with Social Media, PR Team and Creative In Store Team

Skills & Experience:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in managing and leading an editorial team
  • Excellent communication skills [written and oral] with strong presentation skills
  • Ability to build credible relationships with a range of internal stakeholders
  • A great communicator along with excellent interpersonal and people skills. Someone who can contribute effectively as part of a team and can facilitate smooth interactions between themselves and senior stakeholders
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills, able to multi-task, plan, work efficiently to meet tight deadlines and prioritise workflow
  • Self-motivated, problem solver and results oriented
  • Previous experience working with CMS software
  • In-depth knowledge of social media channels
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to analyse competitor data
  • Sound knowledge of fashion, fabrics and brands
