An opportunity has arisen for an Editorial Assistant to work within its Academic and Professional books editorial department in the History team. Your role will be to work closely with a team of Executive Publisher and Commissioning Editors (CE) to provide editorial and administrative support. This will include assisting in list management & development, to deputise in their absence where appropriate and ensure smooth running of the list by organising several key areas of content workflows for titles (such as sourcing covers/writing blurbs).
About the role
You will communicate daily with both external contacts (Academic authors, contributors, volume/series editors) and a broad range of internal colleagues beyond the immediate commissioning/content teams i.e. (Finance, Legal services, Content Operations, Marketing & Sales). Accuracy & ability to facilitate efficient co-ordination & evaluate content before handover to achieve the best results for Cambridge and the Academic community are key for this role, as you will be working on a high number of projects at any one time and on your own initiative, so flexibility & juggling changing priorities are essential skills.
You will also work closely & coordinate daily with our ‘Indian operations coordinators (IOC)' on a variety of administrative tasks i.e contracts/review copies/payments/fees/3rd party permissions to ensure efficient & timely arrangements are in place.
You will be responsible for updating missing or incorrect data on our internal database, as well as covering all aspects of the editorial process to ensure delivery dates & metadata is maintained accurately and carry out any other duties which may be reasonably expected of you by your immediate manager or a senior director
You will be provided with ongoing training to support our products and your own career goals.
About you
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational & time management skills with attention to detail.
- Should ideally have some office or administrative experience. Good bachelors/first degree an advantage but not essential.
- Proficient IT skills in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and e-mail.
- Showing initiative to pick-up editorial operational challenges and troubleshoot them with relevant colleagues in other departments.
