Job description
We have a new opportunity available for an Editorial Assistant, based in Chelmsford. This opportunity offers a salary of £24’000, plus a £6,000 annual bonus based upon individual and company performance. Your benefits will include 28 days holiday (inclusive of public holidays) with an additional two-week annual leave break at Christmas. You will be working in a professional working environment with full support and training. They offer excellent progression, with a legacy of promoting from within. The working hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm.
You will be working for a successful company established in 2009 as an Editorial Assistant, working within the events industry. They specialise in organising global events for the Armed Forces and they have grown to become one of the leading providers of intelligence, insight, and debate for the global defence community. Their events are chaired by leading figures from the Army and Navy, who offer a unique insight into how global armed forces are addressing the challenges and evolving threats in the ever-changing international arena.
As the Editorial Assistant your responsibilities will include spotting and covering news events as they unfold, driving major stories forward, live event reporting and post event analysis. There is also scope for pursuing longer features and investigations. You will be working within the Marketing and Production teams. The Marketing team is re-writing the event marketing playbook, defining new ways to engage their audiences and challenging conventional thinking. Having undertaken a digital transformation of their online channels, they are now custodians of two uniquely positioned digital platforms with global reach. Their Production team works closely with leading figures from global armed forces, gaining unprecedented access to their unbiased opinions and unrivalled operational experience. As the Editorial Assistant you will work across both divisions, collaborating with their Production team and their connections to curate insightful content and then leveraging their marketing channels to empower their audience with intelligence and qualified opinion.
They are looking for their first in-house Editorial Assistant superstar. Someone who has a curious mind and is not afraid to challenge perceptions. This would suit someone who has worked as an Editorial Assistant, or a Junior Editor or a Journalist. If you have experience of news reporting online, or reporting on live events, with knowledge of social media and SEO it would be beneficial. Equally if you have an interest in military, defence, European and NATO-member political developments it would be beneficial.
This is an amazing opportunity and we look forward to hearing from you.
