About TrueGaming Network

TrueGaming Network was founded in 2011, and has created some of the most popular video game communities in the world. With sites dedicated to Xbox (TrueAchievements), PlayStation (TrueTrophies) and Steam (TrueSteamAchievements), the company reaches over 5 million gamers every month.

Working at TrueGaming Network

We’re a fun and friendly company offering a relaxed working environment with offices in Three Bridges and Bournemouth. We are naturally passionate about gaming, but we also have a love for achievements and trophies, and spotting trends in the data we collect.

Our focus is on supporting the communities we have built across our sites, with news, features, and challenges to help them find new ways to enjoy their games.

We offer remote working or an office-based environment (or a hybrid of the two), and are dedicated to supporting our staff in every way we can. We offer:

  • 22 days holiday (rising to 25 with length of service)
  • Your birthday off
  • Free on-site car parking
  • Bonus scheme
  • Staff social events, including Christmas & summer parties
  • Travel and accommodation for industry events
  • Techscheme
  • Cyclescheme

The Role

We are looking for an experienced editor and passionate Xbox gamer to take the helm at TrueAchievements, our flagship site. This will include leading and developing our team of three journalists, overseeing output across all platforms, and ensuring successful execution of the brand strategy. You will need to grow the website audience and profile, while ensuring profitability, maintaining high editorial standards, and a happy and focused team.

To achieve that goal, you’ll be expected to keep a close eye on all published content, ensuring that standards are met and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) best practice is followed. You’ll also be required to keep tabs on emerging trends, uncovering what’s buzzing in the Xbox gaming space, and developing opportunities around that with PRs, developers, and publishers.

This is the perfect opportunity to join the biggest Xbox site in the world and we welcome applications from experienced editors or successful deputy editors that want to take a step up in their career.

You will be responsible for:

  • Planning and overseeing all published content, ensuring high quality levels and adherence to brand values and guidelines
  • Developing, executing, and optimising strategies to grow the monthly userbase and pageviews on the website
  • Leading and training the editorial team
  • Content creation with a focus on news, guides and reviews, plus feature writing
  • Developing and maintaining an awareness of SEO best practises and utilising these to grow traffic
  • Developing the standing of TrueAchievements in the eyes of both its audience and the industry, through quality content, networking, and outreach
  • Building and maintaining relationships with PRs, developers, and publishers
  • Representing TrueAchievements and TrueGaming Network, and arranging event attendance for team members
  • Using the company’s workflow tools correctly and effectively, including Asana, Slack, GSuite, etc.

You will be expected to:

  • Produce and edit copy
  • Grow the site according to agreed traffic and financial targets
  • Produce weekly reports on progress
  • Feed back to senior management regarding output and progress, and implement feedback and direction from above
  • Conduct weekly 1:1s with site staff
  • Plan and execute staff development

You will have/be:

  • Proven experience in senior editorial positions at established online entertainment brands
  • Exceptional knowledge of and a passion for Xbox gaming
  • Ability to identify and capitalise on emerging trends
  • A thorough understanding of online publishing best practices and SEO
  • A track record of having grown an online audience
  • High editorial standards, exceptional organisation, and a keen eye for detail
  • Experience managing staff members
  • Established industry contacts
  • Proactivity and a strong work ethic
  • Clear ambition and a desire to continually raise the bar
  • Must be able to produce proof of right to work in the UK by the start of employment

If it sounds like you are the right fit, please apply with a covering letter that includes a writing sample, and CV.
