Are you an editor with a biomedical background? Or perhaps you are someone with journal publishing experience? A specialist online biosciences publisher based in London is looking for a commissioning editor to take responsibility for the content of one of their key titles.

Our client is a biomedical publisher focusing on cutting-edge biomedical research and development and is passionate about delivering high-value content in innovative digital formats for global technology companies.

This role will be on a 6-month contract, with the possibility to extend.

Key responsibilities include:

• Hands-on journal development, including commissioning content for the journal.
• Ensure all published content meets the required scientific standards – make final accept/reject/revise content decisions.
• Maintain the quality, profile, and performance of your journal.
• Develop specialised scientific knowledge of allocated subject areas.

Skills/experience

• Journals publishing experience in an editorial role, ideally in a biomedical-related field.
• Excellent relationship management and communication skills and confidence in working with internal and external stakeholders, including senior academics.
• Good understanding of the open-access journal publishing business and processes.
