Job description
The Assistant Managing Editor (AME) is focused on editorial content at the product level. The AME understands the audience, the features and benefits of the publication, and the strategy and the voice of the analyst. The successful candidate should be able to harvest the financial insights of the analyst/guru and leverage those insights as a product, in a way that creates high-concept content with a point of view. Ideally, that content would then help develop ideas that can lead to promotional campaigns. We’re looking for someone who is able and excited to grow and develop as the product does.
- Edit investment advisories in a way that strengthens arguments, streamlines financial insights, and uses storytelling from our writers to produce compelling and engaging content
- Help create new features for publications, which can include but are not limited to: written guides, e-books, videos, podcasts, and more
- Be an integral part of training junior editors and new team members
- Manage model portfolios for investment advisories
- Proofread, fact check, and scrutinize every detail of everything we publish
- Update special reports, repackage content, and make our biggest ideas shine
- Collaborate with editorial and production teams to create a consistent “look” and messaging that builds the brand.
- Develop expertise on key tenets of investing.
- Keep up with current market trends through independent research on relevant and reliable sources within the investment industry
- Partner on additional strategic projects within the editorial and production teams
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or related field
- A minimum of 2 years of experience on an editorial team – preferably in the financial-publishing/newsletter business
- Exceptional demonstrated grammar and writing skills
- Options trading experience and/or knowledge of options trading highly preferred
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks and assignments with little supervision
- Extremely sharp eye for detail
- High level of self-direction and a strong work ethic
- Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to execute under tight production deadlines as determined by editorial schedule
- Ability to adapt to company-specific style preferences, tasks, and workflow processes
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing
- Visual acuity for reading and using the computer
- Ability to perceive
- Ability to freely move about the office
- Ability to use the phone/computer/keyboard/mouse/general office equipment for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate with others in order to exchange information
- Fluency in the English language
