Chief Editor

The Chief Editor is responsible for managing content creation, and ensuring the content our customers are browsing is accurate, relevant, current and engaging. He/She will partner closely with the Web designers, Web developers, Web Content Management teams, editorial team, photographers and account managers to ensure the site always reflects the company image of, our brand, values, and style. The position requires the incumbent to manage website’s blogs, polls, news, events calendar, social media, multimedia, e-newsletters, and

any special projects such as surveys or microsites; and to meet the needs of visitors who view websites on tablet computers or smartphones. Also, the incumbent will support marketing campaigns to ensure what our customers see and experience, is reflected on line. Additionally, the incumbent will team up with the Chief Marketing Officer in analyzing statistics to determine the

popularity of the site and how many visits it receives. He/She must keep abreast of competitor online activity, developments and market trends and make recommendations for the future development of the website. He/She will develop editorial policies, copyright, data protection and privacy regulations.

Initially, the incumbent may take on the role of webmaster and be responsible for dealing with enquiries e-mailed from the site and overseeing any message boards. Additionally, the chief editor will provide editorial oversight and work direction to the editorial staff and contractors as necessary. The position would include creative writing encompassing a variety of topics for the company’s website and blog as well as internal and external channels of communication: newsletters, marketing collateral, companywide announcements. The incumbent will review and edit articles by writers for clarity, completeness, consistency, accuracy, approach and proofread to ensure grammatical and typographical accuracy.

The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
  • Strong storytelling experience and the ability to create thoughtful, compelling, and engaging content (video, graphics, text) for delivery on the Internet is required.
  • Develop engaging digital stories and communications that advance GTW's corporate image.
  • Provide editorial vision and tactical direction for how content is created and distributed across GTW's external Internet channels (Globalteensworld.com, social media, mobile).
  • Work on special assignments as needed that require video, animation, infographics, writing, editing and editorial oversight for external audiences.
  • Responds to information requests from the news media and general public on the organization's programs in written and oral form.
  • Help develop & document procedures to manage Web content.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Education.
  • 3+ years of professional writing experience, including generating article ideas, writing, developmental editing, proofreading, and copyediting.
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong writing and communication skills, equipping them to conduct interviews, write feature/teen interest articles, write analysis/industry news pieces, write news briefs and blog posts, and generate other written copy as assigned.
  • Ability to develop compelling ideas, concepts, and campaigns, working collaboratively with creative leaders and fellow team members.
  • Must have the ability to adapt writing style (tone, level of detail, degree of context, etc.) effectively to a variety of audiences, situations, and media.
  • Experience writing for the Web and experience with social media is a plus.
  • Proven ability to strategize, manage and develop interactive content for the external-facing Internet that enhances a company's brand and reputation.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, XML, and CSS.
  • Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and expert word processing skills, familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, is a plus.
