The Role & Team
The Economy and Growth Team are responsible for supporting the regeneration of our town centres, creating vibrant places to live and visit with a strong culture and leisure offer. Working with businesses, investors, developers, and delivery partners, our aim is to create an environment where businesses thrive and create high quality jobs for our residents, and we have a year-round tourism sector, which benefits our communities and attracts visitors to the whole region.
The team have been successful in securing in advance of £83 million since 2019 for regeneration projects across North East Lincolnshire. Our South Humber Industrial Investment Programme (SHIIP) is an award-winning scheme designed to unlock investment opportunities, working with businesses, investors, developers, and delivery partners to create an environment where businesses thrive and create high quality jobs for our residents.
Our sectors are some of the most significant in the country, including the largest Port by tonnage at Immingham, a food industry worth more than £2.5bn, and the 2nd largest chemical cluster in the UK which is focussing on the road to being carbon neutral.
This role sits within the remit of Economy, Funding and Skills and the focus is twofold. The first focus is a business sector approach to understanding the skills, investment, and growth opportunities and challenges in our key industrial sectors to realise the ambitions of the Economic Strategy Action Plan and Skills Action Plan. The second focus is to support the delivery of grants awarded across NEL and support with the financial monitoring requirements across the service.
Your Responsibilities
The key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting with data collection and input
- Analysing and reporting on data
- Supporting with business engagement and project management
- Supporting arranging business and skills events
- Supporting with the monitoring of grant awards
- Supporting with financial monitoring requirements
The successful applicant will have excellent time management, be able to work independently, and a have good eye for detail.
Knowledge of our local business sectors would be beneficial as well as an interest in Economic Development and Regeneration.
