We are recruiting an Economic Crime Assurance Officer to join the Second Line Economic Crime function of the Bank. Within this team, we tackle all types of financial crime and fraud, providing oversight and working with stakeholders throughout the business to ensure the protection of our customers.
As an Economic Crime Assurance Officer, you'll play a key role in protecting Starling and its customers by ensuring that our internal practices comply with regulation, are carried out in line with procedure, compliment our values, and deliver fair outcomes to our customers. This role will include regular reviews across all areas of Economic Crime, to provide assurance to management on the adequacy of Starling’s controls and risk management activities.
Responsibilities
- Assisting in the planning of reviews by gaining an understanding of the area in question;
- Develop assurance tools, to help monitor the adequacy and operational effectiveness of fraud and financial crime prevention controls and operational output;
- Capturing outputs of reviews into a formal report, and communicating these to relevant stakeholders across the organisation;
- Work with wider teams across the business to ensure best practice is being met;
- Analysing quality data metrics, trends and patterns, and sharing common themes with stakeholders;
- Periodically review compliance with regulation, and codes of best practice.
- 2-3 years experience working in a fraud/financial crime role or similar;
- Good knowledge of the the Bank’s regulatory obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA);
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills along with the use of initiative to solve problems independently, while maintaining attention to detail at all times;
- Inquisitive by nature, with the ability to query data, understand complex problems and identify potential solutions;
- Good at building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to present findings and recommendations both written and orally;
- Able to adapt to change positively and quickly.
