Brief Description
Role Details: Permanent
This role is a full-time opportunity, but flexible working patterns will be considered.
Location: This role is based at London, Waterloo.
Closing date: 4th September 2023. On occasions, we may need to close the advert early based upon application volumes. Late applications may not be accepted.
Band & Salary: Band 4B, Salary £34,050 - £38,305 (plus London Weighting if applicable)

About the role (External)
What does the average day look like?
Day to day, youll be working alongside various economic planners in our team, who are experts in particular elements of transport economics or geographic areas of the rail network. Youll get involved with a variety of projects, allowing you to build up your knowledge and skills, and get exposure to the different types of work we do. Youll soon be responsible for conducting your own pieces of analysis and helping communicate the results to our internal and external stakeholders.
While most of your learning will be on-the-job and from colleagues, new economic analysts are also able to attend formal training courses covering investment appraisal and use of industry-specific software.
What essential skills and experiences are required?
- Numerate degree level education or relevant experience.
- Practical experience of economic analysis or investment appraisal.
- Good research skills.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication.
- Can plan and deliver priorities individually and as part of a team.
We would also like, but not essential.
- Knowledge of the transport/railway sector.
- Experience of working in a regulatory environment.
- Understanding of financial/business plan information.
- Good understanding of the economic issues faced by Network Rail.
