Job description
Bioscan is one of the longest established consultancies specialising in applied ecology and has
an enviable reputation for quality, integrity, independence and punching above its weight.
Clients are drawn from the commercial, public, charity and voluntary sectors and our work
covers the full diversity of projects from ecological impact assessment, through protected
species licensing and mitigation to conservation commissions, research, expert witness work and
habitat management. Employee satisfaction is very high and staff turnover very low.
Due to a continued burgeoning workload, we are looking to fill one or more positions,
preferably at senior or principal level, but we would consider any candidate that showed
promise. Candidates with experience in the sector are desirable and they can enjoy high degree
of autonomy on project management, surveys, report writing and client liaison. Those with a
high standard of field skills in one or more of botany, ornithology, invertebrates or protected
species would be encouraged to apply, as well as those who can demonstrate a high-standard of
written outputs, data assimilation, responsibility and client care. Skills in IT (especially
CAD and/or QGIS) would also be an advantage.
In return, successful candidates will join a small, friendly team of ten staff based in rural
surroundings just outside Oxford and will benefit from generous pension provision, staff
socials, flexibility in working arrangements and being in a highly regarded practice that is
often at the cutting edge.
