The Big Issue eBike team need Rebalancing Technicians who will keep our eBike fleet in the best possible locations for customers across the City of Aberdeen.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
The role:
You will rebalance the position of our eBikes across a defined geographic area, conduct minor repairs and cleaning at roadside, and take our eBikes to our workshop for wider repairs when needed. You’ll work closely with our Maintenance, Customer Service and Management teams too. This role is critical within the Operations team, ensuring our eBike fleet stays in great condition. Your work will help provide a sustainable, affordable eBike scheme for Aberdeen residents, workers and visitors. You’ll provide exemplary customer service to all, and contribute towards a positive and supportive working environment that brings ‘Biking for good’ to Aberdeen.
Rebalancing
- Move eBikes between the workshop (or eBikes current location), to the most convenient location for customers by van
- Monitor and track e-bikes, detecting potential issues and plan ideal balancing routes
- Plan routes to prioritise areas needing the most urgent attention / rebalancing
- Provide first-rate customer service should any customer approach the Rebalancing team when out on the road, sending them to Customer Service (where appropriate)
- Help maximise the number of operational and accessible eBikes in the fleet
- Retrieve abandoned eBikes and return them to the warehouse for review
- Follow all relevant internal / health and safety procedures
Maintenance
- Undertake visual and basic mechanical checks of eBikes at roadside
- Conduct minor repairs / cleaning at roadside; ensuring eBikes are free of litter / graffiti (where necessary)
- Transfer eBikes in need of a deep cleans or more extensive repairs to the workshop
- Flag any safety issues to Supervisor / Manager
Teamwork
- Work closely with the Maintenance, Customer Service and Management teams to ensure any rebalancing, maintenance or wider issues that may affect service levels / eBike availability are understood
- Support other teams as required
Outreach and community
- Take part in community outreach to raise awareness of Big Issue eBikes with hard-to-reach groups, non-users, and non-cyclers
- Attend events to engage non-users / non-cyclers
- Take part in content creation for local social media channels to raise awareness of the service (in accordance with Head office guidelines)
