Driver Operations Manager
Solihull - Birmingham Business Park
up to £50,000 + car allowance + bonus

With a head office based centrally in Birmingham, BCA Logistics is a provider of vehicle inspection, collection & delivery services within the automotive supply chain on a nationwide basis. Typically operating at end of vehicle contract BCAL Logistics inspects & collects in excess of 600, 000 vehicles per annum making it the largest provider of these services within the sector with further growth planned.
The Role:
To manage the end to end driver processes, from recruitment through to utilisation and day to day management of resources which underpins BCA Logistics Service Performance and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end to end driver recruitment process, increasing the number of Self Employed Drivers in line with business requirements and timescales.
- Constantly review driver reward strategy to provide a robust service offering that is attractive to Self Employed Drivers and reduces driver attrition in line with agreed targets.
- Develop new and innovative ways to reduce telephone traffic between Control and Drivers by working on the development and implementation of appropriate IT Solutions.
- Act as a role model and provide strong leadership and support to manage and motivate all control staff and employed drivers whilst ensuring all department staff receive relevant training and development.
- Liaise with Planning Department to ensure best utilisation of Self-Employed, Employed and Agency resourcing whilst maximising their effectiveness on the day.
- Ensure all failed movements and next day movements are planned for movement before end of the day and receipt of POD is completed no later than 10.30am on the day vehicle delivery.
- Liaise with appropriate departments to resolve issues on behalf of drivers ensuring effective issue of equipment to drivers and arrangement of collections of equipment where required.
- Maximise resource availability through effective monitoring and communication of processes to maximise Self Employed opportunity whilst using the Driver Management System to help ensure BCA Logistics driver standards are maintained and effectively managed.
- Deliver performance in line with KPI and budget, ensuring costs are analysed and initiatives developed to minimise cost whilst maximising service performance and average driver earnings.
- Develop mechanisms through which to run “team meetings” and manage the driver communication process in order to keep field based resources abreast of developments within the business.
- Ensure Quality Management System is fully adhered to, processes are regularly reviewed and refined to reflect the changing business and support the business Quality Manager in the undertaking of business reviews and audits.
