Job description
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Driver / Handyperson to work within the Fleet Department of the Scottish Ambulance Service. The post holder’s primary function will be to move Service vehicles between various locations throughout Scotland mainly Edinburgh and the Lothians. This is to allow vehicle maintenance and repairs to be carried out on various types of vehicles as required.
Although the post is based in Edinburgh Workshop, this role requires travel throughout Scotland to meet the needs of the Service. As a result, there may be occasions where the post holders will have to be flexible in terms of their start time and finish time during their 37.5hr working week.
It is essential the post holder must have a current driving licence for group C1 & D1 categories. In addition, they must be able to demonstrate significant and relevant experience in driving C1 & D1 class vehicles.
The candidate will be working in a workshop environment and will be required to assist vehicle craftsperson and carry out housekeeping duties within a busy workshop and maintain cleanliness and ensuring areas are kept in a suitable manner, this will also entail some heavy lifting will be required. Previous workshop experience is desirable.
A good knowledge of Edinburgh and the Lothians area is preferred.
The post is permanent position working 37.5 hours Monday to Friday
