Job description
We require a responsible person to drive steam / diesel passenger engines on our railway throughout the operating season. Full training will be given but previous experience would be an advantage. Ability to deal courteously with members of the public is essential. The successful applicant should have some proven fitting, engineering or mechanical skills, as they will be required to assist the Chief Engineer with maintenance tasks during the winter months.
Key skills
- To drive steam / diesel passenger locomotives and general movement of rolling stock. FULL TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED.
- Undertaking general stripping down of components, cleaning up parts, replacing, testing and the re-assembly of components.
- A sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and the ability to carry out risk assessments.
- A good team player, with the ability to work autonomously using own initiative.
- To be a good communicator and be comfortable interacting with members of the public.
- The ability to manage and prioritise workload.
- The ability to understand and obey the rules and regulations of railway operations.
- The ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
Further training will be provided where necessary.
You will be a key member of a small but dedicated team who keep this railway operating successfully and profitably. You will be required to work weekends during the operating season on a rota basis. Hours worked over the standard 37.5 hours per week will be paid at time and a half.
Salary dependant on overtime worked, experience and skills
