Job description
The role:
Due to the expansion of the numbers of our collection points, we are looking for a friendly, self motivated and reliable driver to collect from clothing banks in the Darlington / Co Durham area on a daily basis.
You will be required to collect donations of clothing from our clothing banks and bring them back to a designated storage site, situated in your location. In addition, you may also be required to deliver donated clothing to our retail charity shops.
This is a role which, through its nature, will include an above average amount of manual handling but that also gives the driver a degree of autonomy and the ability to manage their daily working hours and earn a good amount of overtime.
General Duties
- Complete and manage the given bank run(s) as directed, ensuring that they are completed in line with company guidelines and expectations
- Daily contact with Area Collections Manager or Transport Office regarding any works not completed
- Keep all clothing banks and recycling area surrounding the clothing banks free of fly tipping. Reporting any site or clothing bank defects to the Central Support team.
- Use Waste Transfer Stations to help with decoupling good stock from Waste.
- Load and unload company LGV’s in line with manual handling policies and procedures
The ideal candidate will have:
- A full and current driving licence
- Manual handling experience (not essential)
- Physically able to lift and carry large amounts of donated clothing.
- Have the ability to work in challenging conditions.
- Knowledge of the local area
- Commitment to the ethos and values of The Salvation Army Trading Company
