Job description

• To safely transport General Practitioners (GP’s) and Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP’s) to home based patients and when not out on home visits to assist as necessary with treatment centre duties.
• When mobile to receive calls from staff/clinicians in other bases/cars and pass appropriate accurate information (clinical and non-clinical) to the GP/ANP.
• To ensure that the car is safe and contains equipment and drug boxes for use on home visits.
• To support other members of the Out of Hours team and clinicians undertaking various duties including making and receiving calls top/from patients and other clinicians when not engaged in driving to ensure the smooth running of the service.

North Wales GP Out of Hours WEST Division invites applications for Drivers, to work from bases in Ysbyty Gwynedd (Bangor) and Ysbyty Alltwen (Tremadog) as required. There will be an expectation of applicants to be available to work weekday evenings/nights, weekend days/ nights and on Bank Holidays. Shifts are allocated on a 4 weekly rolling rota and there will be opportunities to work in other bases across North Wales. Full training will be provided.

The role will involve:
1.Safely transporting General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners to home based patients and assist as necessary with treatment centre consultations
2. When mobile to receive calls from the call centre and pass appropriate accurate information (clinical and non-clinical) to the GP
3. Ensuring that the car is roadworthy and contains equipment and drug boxes for use on home visits
4.Supporting other members of the OOH team and clinicians undertaking various duties including call dispatching and contacting patients to book appointments when not engaged in driving to ensure the smooth running of the service
5. The requirement is for drivers to cover the rota for weekday evenings and nights, weekend daytime, evenings and nights and on Bank Holidays; with an ability to provide cover for the remainder of the weekend days . Shift length varies from 5 to 12 hours.

Full training will be provided.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
