Position Summary

Driver / Drivers required to provide a transportation service for the driver of a late night mail service train driver
This entails driving from Warrington, WA2 8AA to Willesdon Junction, NW10 4UB, collecting the driver and providing safe return back to Warrington Monday to Friday. As the train is a Royal Mail Service, this activity will be required 5 days per week, 52 weeks per year

This is an important role and we are therefore ideally looking for 2 drivers to share cover responsibility on a part time basis in order that emergency and holiday cover can be maintained throughout the year. The sharing of hours can be agreed on completion of the hiring of drivers but we envisage 2 days then 3 days rotation to ensure full coverage.

We envisage the journey to take approximately 3.5 hours each way, using Google Maps, but are well aware that traffic on UK roads is variable. With this in mind we wish to engage services on a basic 9 hour per day basis but subject to traffic conditions we note that where traffic dictates this may be more and we will remunerate accordingly

The vehicle to be used will be a small company van with a manual gearbox and this will be collected from and returned to our Depot in Warrington at the beginning and end of the shift

Vehicles are none smoking, speed restricted and tracked, kept clean and are available with a fuel card


Person/s Profile/Experience:

You will have been driving for at least 3 years and will have no more than 6 points on your full driving license.

You will be fit with good eyesight and no medical issues that may impair your driving ability

As we are ideally looking for 2 drivers to fully meet the needs of this role, it may well come across as suitable for someone who is semi-retired, however we welcome applications from all parties providing you hold a full driver’s license, have no impending convictions or increase in points to your license.

We welcome drivers who have previous driving experience in a full time role from a wide range of driving trades. Reliability and punctuality is essential in this role as is someone who is capable of planning their journeys in advance, prior preparation is essential to manage / mitigate the risks around possible delays to journey times


Key Criteria:

Live within 30 minutes commute of WA2 8AA
Physically fit with good eyesight
No medical issues that may impair driving ability
Full driving license with no more than 6 points on it. Points should not be related to drug or alcohol related offences
Should not have any impending convictions
Should have held a full driving license for in excess of 3 years
Should be able to work within the core hours of 19.00 and 05.00, Monday to Friday/Saturday morning

Ideally able to commence work within 7 days of interview
Have excellent English, written and spoken
Be happy to use a Satellite Navigation system
Have a smart and easy going disposition and a good sense of humour
