Our Client from Kent is looking for a Driver that would be able to start ASAP.
Pay: £10.50/£11
Time: 37.5 Hours per week
Job Purpose:
Drivers are an essential part of the hospital team and their primary aim is the welfare of patients either directly or indirectly. They are also responsible for maintaining a comprehensive, professional and responsive high quality service to patients, staff, visitors, commercial customers and other service users.
Key Responsibilities
- To provide a cost effective, efficient & timely delivery & collection service to the trust & its commercial customers.
- The delivery & collection of healthcare goods & items to & from the Medway maritime hospital and other specified locations to agreed timetables including but not limited to; Laundry items, , supplies & sundries,
- The carriage of goods to current Trust policies and procedures and to current legislation and guidelines issued by the relevant government department.
- To drive on the public highway acting considerately to other road user, following the Highway Code at all times & observing speed limits, parking restrictions & any relevant enforcement restrictions applied by the relevant authorities & co-operate with any relevant officers whilst carrying out their duties.
- To follow all Trust policies and procedures and to report any accidents or incidents through the trusts incident & reporting system (Datix).
- To report any traffic accidents & incidents to the Trusts insurance providers if required to do so in a timely and accurate manner.
- The ability to work as a lone worker if required to do so.
- To use Trust vehicles to current procedures and policies and carry out any checks required on any vehicles/equipment utilised for the role. To complete any required paperwork, vehicle
- Check sheets & log books & to secure Trust vehicles when not in use in the designated vehicle parking area unless otherwise specified.
- To participate in any training considered necessary for the development of Transport services & any job specific training required for role.
- Ensure that a uniform is worn at all times when on duty and use relevant Personal Protective equipment in accordance with the policies of the Trust and Transport & Waste Department.
- Any other duties requested by the Manager or Supervisor to facilitate the smooth running of the department.
- Follow protocols, written procedures and instruction from the Facilities management team as and when required, regularly reporting to the Transport & waste supervisor, receiving guidance and instruction.
Personal Specifications-
Qualifications:
- A reasonable level of general education
- A full clean UK driving licence with minimum of B entitlement and over the age of 25.
Knowledge:
- An understanding of good health and safety practice.
- A knowledge of data protection
- To understand and observe all regulations governing the driving of vehicles on the public highway and be aware at all times of the Health & Safety aspects of doing so.
Experience:
- Experience & ability of working alone and also as part of a team
- Ability to priorities work load and use your own initiative if required to do so.
Skills
- Good communication Skills
- The ability to complete appropriate forms and accurately record messages.
- The ability to communicate verbally with colleagues and others.
- The ability to lift and manoeuvre moderate weights, Load and unload vehicles, as required, to manipulate trolleys, cages and containers used for the delivery of items to customers via the use of a tail lift
